Biological Phenotypes

Our research asks questions that go beyond what patients and genes tell us. We are exploring neural mechanisms supporting basic emotion processing, emotion regulation and cognition in trauma survivors with and without PTSD, also looking at intermediate structural and functional neural phenotypes for PTSD through fMRI and DTI. Additionally we have robust fear potentiated startle paradigms to assess differences in learning and reactivity.
