GTP at ADAA 2024

Written by Dasani DelRosario and Ellie McAfee

The Grady Trauma Project was proud to have 19 team members—including principal investigators, postdocs, staff members, and interns—representing us at the 2024 Annual Anxiety and Depression Association of America Conference in Boston, MA, this April!

Our research was highlighted in five symposiums and talks. Former graduate student and current CDC ORISE Fellow, Dr. Meghna Ravi, presented her postdoctoral research in a symposium titled "From Menstrual Cycle-Related Hormone Fluctuations to Intersectional Risk Profiles in Pregnancy and Childbirth: Female Sex and Gender-Related Contributors to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder."

Postdoctoral fellows Dr. Rebecca Lipschutz and Dr. Cecilia Hinojosa also showcased their research. Dr. Lipschutz discussed her graduate research in a symposium chaired by Dr. Vas Michopoulos titled "Impact of Prenatal Maternal Stress on Early Childhood Stress Reactivity and Psychopathology Risk: Harvey Mom Study." Dr. Hinojosa presented her work in the symposium "The Prospective Impact of Sex-Specific and Sex-Dependent Factors on Psychological Functioning After Trauma."

Dr. Negar Fani, director of the Fani Lab and Principal Investigator of the MIND study, shared new data in her symposium "Traumatic Stress and Accelerated Aging: Recent Approaches to Understanding the Biological Cost of Trauma and the Role of Protective Factors."

Finally, Dr. Vas Michopoulos presented data from the BUMPP study in a talk titled "Sex Effects in the Links Between Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Cardiometabolic Function."

In addition to these symposiums, our team presented 14 posters on various Grady Trauma Project datasets. For a full list of the posters and a link to the Poster Abstract Book containing all the abstracts from the poster sessions, please see below.

The success and hard work of our GTP lab members at the ADAA 2024 Annual Conference show their dedication to this community. We look forward to future contributions from our team and other opportunities to disseminate the important work occurring at the Grady Trauma Project.
